EMEDS and CCATT
Filed Under AFMS Stuff | 1 Comment
If you’ve ever wondered what the Air Force equivalent of an Army M*A*S*H* unit is, it’s called EMEDS, and it stands for Expeditionary Medical Support. And a CCATT (pronounced “see-cat”) is not a cute feline, but rather a Critical Care Air Transport Team, which is the Air Force version of an intensive-care unit in the sky. Check out how Air Force medics train on EMEDS and CCATT in this brief article from Air Force News!

AFMS Mural

A large mural was unveiled at Wilford Hall Medical Center last month to commemorate the service of Air Force medics. The mural was created by the husband of an Air Force psychologist (assigned to WHMC), and it looks pretty cool.
The mural, in the shape of an eagle with wings spread, shows medical members in various stages of service, from entering the Air Force, through a range of diagnostic and patient care stages, to caring for wounded warriors in an austere location. In the center of the mural are representations of the enlisted and officer medical corps members saluting.
